RADUS® Document Security with Numbering Applications
Reliable Serialisation Technology
The unique identification of a document can be guaranteed through the use of an individual serial number. Depending on the use, products such as passports, bank cheques and bank notes can be uniquely identified using sequential numbering.
For this purpose, visually readable numbering in Gothic can be used, for example, as well as machine-readable MICR / OCR-B numbering. The inclusion of a mathematical formula such as the Modulo10 check digit offers simple protection against forgeries. In addition, in security-relevant ID documents, special black numbering that fluoresces yellow / green under UV light, as well as indelible red penetrating (bleed through) numbering can be used. UV fluorescence allows simple, visual authentication using a UV lamp, and penetrating ink is an effective protection against manipulation.
Mechanical numbering is certainly the best known form of numbering in the world. Here the printing ink is transferred directly to the document using an engraved numbering machine. After each printing cycle, the mechanism of the numbering machine advances one digit. The simple application of security inks and special carbon ribbons make the use of mechanical numbering indispensable in security printing, and the achieved offset print quality is often unsurpassed.
Well-known examples can be found on Passports, Schengen visas and other related identification documents.
