Whether identification, access control or product tracking by Track & Trace, the RFID technology is finding its use in various fields - a trend which is rapidly growing. In the meantime, RFID technology plays an indispensable role in many fields, such as the pharmaceutical and clothing industry, transport and logistics as well as access control systems. The identification is stored on a chip which can be read by a contactless reader. Already today, hundreds of millions RFID transponders are being produced every year in the form of cards, tickets and labels. Due to their low cost in comparison with plastic cards, these so-called "smart" cards and tickets, usually made of thin plastic or paper and with RFID technology, have already established themselves in the public transport sector.
