Embedded DOVID Patch
Applicator for Polycarbonate
RADUS SV-360 MX [Matrix]
Smart and Innovative Solutions - since 1964
The new model of the series Radus SV-360 is an entire solution with
sheet feeder and pile delivery for the fully automated application of
embedded DOVIDs (Hologram / Kinegram®) on polycarbonate sheets
for passport data pages, driving licenses and ID documents at a small
footprint of only 4 x 1m.
Based on the well-proven hot stamping technology of our established
machine SV-360 PC with 3x or 8x hologram heads, the model SV-360
MX only has one hot stamping head HP3 which is driven across the
machines feeding direction. By precisely following a coordinate system,
all positions in the typical matrixes can be attained in high resolution
and reproducibility.
Due to its matrix drive system, the machine covers the complete range
of polycarbonate layouts from e.g. 2x2 to 4x5 for passport data pages,
up to common layouts for embedded DOVIDs on ID cards and DL cards
with 3x8 and 8x6 (ID-1 Format). The system processes typical
polycarbonate overlay and core films of common manufacturers from 50
to 150 micron and enables an output at an average of 150 PC sheets / h
for 3x8 (24 images) and 100 PC sheets / h for 8x6 (48 images). The
sophisticated foil separation technology in combination the electrostatic
discharge devices ensure a clean result and sharp hologram edges.
HP3 hot stamping hologram applicator
The well-proven hologram application head HP3 is especially suitable
for applying embedded DOVID patches on polycarbonate overlay
sheets up to secure Level 3 in a stamping size of max. ø40 mm. The
head works electronically / pneumatically and is monitored by the
machine's process control. The HP3 unit contains the hot stamping
press with the replaceable stamping die and the associated fine
adjustment as well as the foil feed.
Print mark recognition with unique „on the fly“ image positioning
A multistage tension control in the hologram hot foil track and an
accurate guidance guarantee precise hologram feed. To compensate
the common hologram foil manufacturing image distance tolerances, the
HP3 is equipped with diffraction mark detection directly on the active
stamping die to ensure exact image positioning. After mark detection „on
the fly“, the foil with the holographic image is positioned using
electronics only (Resolution 0.01mm); there is no need for the time
consuming manual fine adjustment of the photocells for image
positioning. The image position of the hot foil hologram under the
stamping die can be easily adjusted via the touch display - even during
ongoing stamping operation.
